Name: Glasgow Caledonian University
Region: Europe - United Kingdom

Description:
Glasgow Caledonian University lies at the heart of the city with one campus in the city centre and a further two in the West End. All three sites have landscaped areas with trees and grassy spaces dividing the custom-built lecture theatres, science and technology facilities, offices and student buildings of a modern university.

The Department of Physical Sciences offers a Master of Science, a Postgraduate Diploma and a Postgraduate Certificate in Bulk Solids Handling Technology which can be studied either by attendance at the University or by distance learning. The Department was formed in 1987 from a merger of the Department of Physics with the Department of Chemistry. Since its inception the Department has taken advantage of its blend of disciplines and consistently focused its development within the theme of Analytical Science and Measurement. It was further strengthened in January 1993 by a merger with the Centre for Industrial Bulk Solids Handling.

The University offers the Master of Science in Lifelong Learning - an Internet-based distance learning route to a postgraduate award in lifelong learning. It is a joint programme involving both Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Stirling. The programme is managed at Glasgow Caledonian University by the Department of Learning and Educational Development, and at the University of Stirling by the Division of Educational Policy and Development.

The University also offers Enhancement courses via distance learning. Enhancement courses allow students to gain access to all Science and Engineering Degrees and Diplomas offered at the following universities: Napier, Robert Gordon and Glasgow Caledonian.
